Microsoft has revealed that alongside the Xbox One gaming console itself, users will be required to update their controllers as well for stereo headset adapter to work when they are released next week.
Those of you who are not aware about adapter, it is a piece of gadgetry that will allow you to connect chat or stereo headsets including the official Xbox One stereo headset, to your controller. But for the adapter to work, the controller has to be updated to latest firmware.
To update the firmware, Xbox One owners will first be required to update their consoles. Make sure you are connected to Xbox One. Once done, plug in the stereo headset adapter into the bottom of your controller then plug in a headset and then plug the big end of the included USB cable into the port on the side of the console.
If all is connected properly, instructions to install the update will automatically be displayed. The update process will take approximately 3 minutes and during that time do not disconnect the USB cable from the console.
