Ubisoft managed to garner the expected launch for its highly anticipated Watch Dogs as the title not only debuted at top spot in UK all formats chart, the title also managed to overshadow the company’s previous IP record set by L.A Noire almost three years ago.
According to Gfk Chart-Track, Watch Dogs managed to find itself on the seventh position in the top 20 of the best ever launch weeks. “The new release finds itself in good company with only titles from mega-brands GTA, Call of Duty, FIFA & Battlefield ahead of it”, notes Gfk.
Watch Dogs also managed to beat Assassin’s Creed III’s launch figures by over 17 percent and if we dig to the individual console level sales, 53 percent of sales were for PlayStation 4.
Wii U exclusive Mario Kart 8 also found huge number of takers as the title managed to rank second in the all formats chart and not only that the title helped sales of Nintendo’s console to surge by a whopping 666 percent.
Thanks to Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8, last week’s topper Wolfenstein: The New Order was pushed to third spot with a 65 percent week-on-week decline in sales. FIFA 14 did manage a 46 percent increase in sales, but it was pushed to fourth, while Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition was pushed to fifth spot despite 20 percent increase in week-on-week sales.
