The much awaited Steam Machines apparently needs a bit more time to shape perfectly as Valve has just pushed the release window of the gaming system to an unspecified date next year.
Valve announced in a post on Steam Community that it is looking at 2015 for the release of its Steam controller, which was originally slated for a 2014 release, due to the improvements and changes being made.
“Realistically, we’re now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014,” Valve’s Eric Hope said in a new update on Valve’s Steam Machine hardware.
“Obviously we’re just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands. But our number one priority is making sure that when you do, you’ll be getting the best gaming experience possible. We hope you’ll be patient with us while we get there.”
Hope said that wireless prototype Steam Controllers are currently being live playtested by “industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers,” generating a “ton of useful feedback.”
He added that the feedback is keeping the project team busy in implementation of various improvements and also helps Valve in making the controller a lot better.
However, it’s still unclear if Hope is referring only to the Valve’s own first-party Steam Machine or even those under construction in partnership with 14 partner companies as well.
