New reports suggest Sony is currently working on to launch a large-size tablet featuring a 12.9-inch display probably in Q1 2015.
According to a DigiTimes report, citing sources from the supply chain, the alleged large-screen tablet will debut in the first half of 2015 and is expected to enter mass production “shortly.”
Sources claim that Sony’s forthcoming tablet will mainly target the high-end market and its price “may exceed $1000.
As per leaks, Sony’s upcoming tablet will feature a 12.9-inch 3,840-by-2,400-resolution display, a Qualcomm processor, an 8-megapixel camera and a thickness of just 8.6mm.
The sources reported that the supply chain has already finished preparing related components for the device’s upcoming mass production. The report suggests that the tablet in question will likely be manufactured by Pegatron Technology, which also does manufacturing work for the Apple iPad and the Microsoft Surface tablets.
If the purported rumors turn out to be true then we may expect Sony to announce the new tablet at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The major tech show CES 2015 is scheduled to take place from January 6-9 in Las Vegas.
Sony also recently teased a thin device, which somewhat looks like a tablet, ahead of CES 2015.
