Samsung on Monday unveiled its much awaited flagship Android smartphone, Galaxy S5, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
The Galaxy S5 will be powered by a 2.5GHz Quad-Core processor and will feature a 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, 2GB RAM, and a 2,800mAh battery with a claimed standby time of 390 hours and talk time of 21 hours, encased in a dust and water resistant body.
The S5 packs a 16-megapixel rear camera with the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and an enhanced menu and user interface, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and real time HDR for recording videos in dark environments.
The new Selective Focus feature will allow users to focus on a single object whilst blurring out everything else.
Samsung has also incorporated fingerprint Scanner in its Galaxy S5’s home button using which users can not only unlock their phones, but will also be able to securely, seamlessly and safely make mobile payments.
Samsung’s new flagship device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and will come in two storage options – 16GB and 32GB with microSD support for up to 64GB or 128GB.
The South Korean consumer electronics giant has also incorporated a range of new features, one of which is a Download Booster, an innovative Wi-Fi technology for boosting data speed by bonding Wi-Fi and LTE simultaneously.
The Galaxy S5 with the S Health 3.0 personal tracker app will help users to track, monitor and manage their behaviour along with other tools like a pedometer, diet and exercise records. The new built-in heart rate monitor, which works when a user places a finger on a sensor underneath the phone’s camera flash, will take up to eight seconds to take a reading.
The handset will be made available in a variety of different colors including charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue and copper Gold.
Samsung is yet to reveal the handset’s pricing details but has informed that Galaxy S5 will go sale in April.
