Raspberry Pi has managed to ship out over 2.3 million units to its customers across the globe, Raspberry Pi Foundation head has revealed.
“@RobinRjm41 We’ll have to tot up in the New Year, but this month looks like a record. We might make it to 2.3 million by end of December”, revealed the Foundation’s head Eben Upton through a tweet.
Liz Upton noted in early November that they are expecting to sell their two millionth unit in January 2014; however, that had just happened in the last week of October itself. The Foundation reached the 2 million units shipped milestone 3 months shy of its second anniversary.
“So it was a bit of a shock at the end of last week when we got the latest sales figures and discovered that the two millionth Raspberry Pi was sold in the last week of October”, Liz had said at the time.
It seems that the Foundation is receiving huge orders for Christmas, but has managed to keep up with them as is evident from Eben’s tweet “Phew. Looks like another 10k @Raspberry_Pi units just arrived at Farnell. We survived the Christmas rush :)”
