As anticipated, users are complaining about PSN log-in issues as the PlayStation Network seems to have been overwhelmed with the hundreds of thousands of users trying to log-on through their newly bought PlayStation 4 consoles from Europe and the UK.
Sony had disabled two of its PSN PS4 features just before the console’s European launch to ensure that users have a ‘positive’ online experience. This proactive measure hasn’t yielded the desired results as Sony has acknowledged through a tweet that it is aware that “users are experiencing issues logging into PSN on PS4 due to the heavy traffic we are receiving”. The company added that they were investigating the issue.
Subsequent to the tweet, Sony has published a blog post in its EU PlayStation blog stating that it is disabling “redeem voucher” functionality to minimize the inconvenience caused to users. “We are aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service. To minimise the inconvenience we have suspended the “redeem voucher” functionality whilst we investigate further”, read the post.
This means that users won’t be able to redeem any of the cards including “money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content.”
However, the PS4 maker has assured that all other features including online multiplayer, PlayStation Plus Trial, PS Store, trophies, friends, messages, log-in, etc. will be available.
