SRD Wireless has launched an instant messaging app dubbed PQChat with features similar to Whatsapp and Snapchat with dynamic security measures best suited for businesses with needs to exchange sensitive information over phones.
PQChat is currently available for the iOS platform, with the Android version still in development. The app is available for free but if businesses want the message history to be stored, they can sign up for a package that charges based on the user count.
Andersen Cheng, SRD Wireless CEO said in a statement, “We know for example that in some hospitals doctors use Whatsapp to send pictures of X-rays to consultants. There is no accountability there or security”.
“With PQChat we are creating something secure and accountable so that staff can send information knowing it is not at risk.”
The company’s patented and proprietary Never-The-Same (NTS) encryption makes the security tighter than what other platforms offer. PQChat’s encryption system, McEliece cryptosystem, is claimed to have never been broken.
The app can be used to exchange text messages, voice notes, videos, and images with the assurance that third-parties wouldn’t be able to tap into the system.
NTS changes the encryption for each message and hence hackers will not be able to chart out the pattern used. Besides, users are also asked to set a five digit passcode – a combination of letters and numbers.
In addition, the app has voice and video authentication tools so that users can double check if the messages are sent to the right contacts. The app also has ‘Locker’, a feature that stores important information within itself for later reference.
It also has a feature that self-destructs messages when it is delivered to the receiver and a notification is shown when the receiver reads the message for highly sensitive information.
