Nokia has announced a software update for its newest Asha phones that brings plenty of new features and improvements.
The Finnish handset maker on Monday said it is rolling out a major update for Asha 500, 501, 502, 503 and 230, both single and dual SIM variants.
The update introduces Nokia’s MixRadio music service along with camera features, re-tweets feature, Facebook likes function, parental control and Microsoft OneDrive support.
Nokia MixRadio will let Asha users enjoy music from their favourite artists for free, allowing them to stream and download music tracks via a Wi-Fi or data connection. The company’s official blog post also noted that the Nokia MixRadio will not be available for the Nokia Asha 230.
Another interesting feature is the voice-guided self-portrait feature that allows users to click awesome looking ‘selfies’ with the help of voice guidance. The feature will instruct the users on how to hold their phone to get the perfect shot. Improved video stabilisation and Panorama features have also been added in this update.
Devices’ integration with Microsoft’s OneDrive will let users upload videos and photographs to the cloud storage service automatically or manually. Microsoft is currently offering 7GB of storage free of charge.
The update also brings in Fastlane, which lists recently accessed contacts, social networks and apps, and also displays Facebook likes and Twitter re-tweets, along with Facebook friends’ birthday reminders.
Parental control is another new feature that allows users to use a PIN code to lock browser and Store to restrict kids from accessing.
