Netgear has unveiled a range of its 802.11ac networking gear including AC1200 High Power Wi-Fi and the AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender.
The range extenders will allow home users to extend their Wi-Fi networks to dead zones thereby allowing lag-free gaming as well as video streaming. The AC750 is the first wall-plug extender that provides 750Mbps performance on 5GHz and delivers dual-band Wireless AC. Netgear claims that the AC1200 model is world’s first to utilize a dual-core processor and delivers 1200 Mbps on the 5 GHz band.
Damir Skripic, senior product line manager at Netgear said, “We provide our customers with the latest WiFi extender technology, so we’re thrilled that industry experts have recognised the innovative design and features supported by our new WiFi Range Extenders.”
The range extenders support Netgear’s FastLane technology that utilizes both Wi-Fi bands to establish one super-fast wireless connection. Further users can also use Netgear’s free Wi-Fi Analytics app for Android smartphones and tables to gather information about their network status, signal strength, and channel interference and use the information to optimise their home networks.
Both the range extenders can be used as a Wi-Fi bridge thereby allowing users to connect gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, as well as Smart TVs.
The extenders will be put up for sale in the UK this year itself, but prices are yet to be disclosed.
