Warner Bros confirmed its plans of releasing the next installment in one of the most well-known fighting game franchises – Mortal Kombat X – and we anticipate that more details about the upcoming way will be revealed during Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2014.
“Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay to create an unprecedented Kombat experience,” read a statement by Warner Bros.
NetherRealm Studios will be in charge of the game development and the title will make its presence felt on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, said that the franchise has always been about “over-the-top, visceral fighting” and that the developers wanted to harness the power of the new generation consoles providing the most intense gaming experience yet.
No other details about Mortal Kombat X apart from the fact that it will be a sequel to 2011’s popular series reboot, Mortal Kombat and that it will be released for almost all major consoles except Wii U have been made available yet.
One thing is for sure – the game will utilise a completely new graphics engine to provide new gameplay that will involve persistent online contest allowing gamers to compete at a global level.
