Microsoft has released its simple and easy to use office presentation app Sway for iPhone in New Zealand with a promise that it will be releasing the app in more countries soon.
Sway, first previewed in October this year, is a lightweight presentation app that can be accessed through the web using Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari or through a stand-alone app on iPhone.
Dubbed as a Prezi competitor, Sway lets you drag and drop photos, videos, and other files from a variety of sources including your computer, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter or cloud storage. The presentations are stored on the web, so you can access them from anywhere in case you forgot to carry your device with you.
Though it doesn’t pack features that are a ‘first’ in such an app, Microsoft Sway is definitely the app that fits the bill of an easy to use office presentation app that delivers what it claims. Sway is the right move as far as Microsoft’s mobile-first cloud-first strategy is concerned and the limited rollout in New Zealand is Redmond’s way of expanding Sway preview.
“Launching Sway for iPhone in New Zealand continues our approach to listening closely to our customers, adapting to their feedback, and building the future of Sway together”, Microsoft explains. “We’ll be responding to initial reactions and improving the app experience before making it more broadly available.”
Embedded below is a presentation created by Microsoft to explain what Sway is all about:
Sway is just one of the apps that Microsoft has been working on since Satya Nadella took over the reins of the company. Some of the other apps include Skype Translator – a service that Microsoft launched earlier this month allowing users speaking different languages to converse using translation in real time.
Released in September this year was Delve – an Office 365 tool – that helps you find all the important stuff that might be buried deep in your documents, calendars, contacts. Then there is Power Q&A – a cloud service add-on for Office 365 customers.
Finally Cortana, which Microsoft intends to bring to all Windows OS powered devices including tablets and PCs with Windows 10.
