Microsoft has announced a ‘Windows 10 Devices’ event scheduled for October 6 to be held in New York City from the looks of it Redmond could finally unveil the long-awaited Surface Pro 4 along with a couple of Lumia devices.
Surface Pro 3 marked a new beginning of sorts for Microsoft in the tablet segment after back-to-back failures of its original Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 models. Surface Pro 4 is what, many believe, will take Microsoft’s tablet game to the next level building up on a strong platform that Surface Pro 3 has created.
Though there has been no hints on what Surface Pro 4 will pack, there have been rumours about the specifications of the tablet. There have been reports that Surface Pro 4 will be more or less like the Surface Pro 3 on the form-factor front, but internal will be upgraded to a great extent.
We anticipate Surface Pro 4 to pack the Intel’s latest Skylake processor and should come in varying range of storage and RAM options. There were also rumours that Microsoft will better the display of the Surface Pro 4 while also providing an advanced front camera to appeal to its business consumers who are into video conferencing and remote sales roles.
Though it’s a long shot, we believe, Microsoft may very well launch a 12.9-inch or a larger-sized Surface Pro 4 variant to compete with recently released Apple iPad Pro.
On the smartphone front, we expect Microsoft to announce the much rumoured Cityman and Talkman aka Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Lumia 950 is rumoured to feature a 5.2-inch WQHD display with 1,440 x 2,560 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM. On the battery front, it is likely that the 950 will have a 3,000mAH battery for extra juice.
Lumia 950 XL is expected to flaunt a 5.7-inch QHD display and a better Snapdragon 810 chipset while keeping the same amount of RAM at 3GB. It is expected that both the new Lumia smartphones will have the same rear and front camera at 21-megapixel and a 5-megapixel respectively.
And of course, all three devices will run Windows 10 variants – Surface Pro 4 to run full fledged Windows 10 while Lumia 950 and 950 XL will run Windows 10 Mobile.
