Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 has managed to meet with all General Services Administration (GSA) criteria thereby clearing way for Microsoft to make its tablet available for purchase by government employees.
The development was announced by Microsoft’s Cyril Belikoff in a blog post. “Surface Pro 3 has met all GSA criteria and, beginning today, US government customers may now purchase Surface through GSA”, said Belikoff.
Belikoff added that Government leaders more or less think along the same lines as their commercial counterparts with many showing interest “in how Surface can offer the power of a laptop and remove the need to carry an iPad, as well as help workers to be more productive on-the-go, thereby making the most of taxpayer dollars.”
Surface Pro 3 is the only tablet in market that not only provides all tablet-specific functionalities, but also caters to all the requirements of a full-fledged PC.
Surface Pro 3’s GSA clearance is a huge deal for Microsoft because addition of government agencies and employees as a customer base will result in a significant increase in demand of the tablet.
Microsoft has already revealed that Surface Pro 3 sales are faring a lot better as compared to those of Surface Pro 2. Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, had stated, “We are excited by Surface Pro 3 performance, as unit sales are pacing at twice the rate of what we saw with Pro 2.”
