Xbox’s Larry Hyrb a.k.a. Major Nelson demonstrated the first ever Twitch on Xbox One by live streaming Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, while also confirmed a range of new features.
According to the information shared by Hyrb Twitch on Xbox One outperforms Twitch on PlayStation 4 as the app streams at a 1,280 x 720p resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) on the former as compared to 960 × 540p resolution on the latter.
Further, Twitch on Xbox One utilises 2.5Mbps connectivity as compared to 1.7Mbps on PlayStation 4.
The app, which is launching on March 11 on Xbox One, will automatically tune the settings of the app based on the connectivity speeds of the household when it is first launched.
Some of the other features of Twitch on Xbox One are support for archiving of streams – something that is not supported on PlayStation 4, chat and viewer stats are displayed to the broadcaster only and not in the stream thereby making the interface a lot cleaner, Twitch’s ability to ban consoles if it detects streaming of inappropriate content.
