Linus Torvalds has announced Linux 3.13 as anticipated after adding in an extra rc release last week.
The final release doesn’t bring in anything new except for a few fixes and the patch from rc8 is fairly small in size as it has a small number of architecture updates including those for ARM, PowerPC, x86, SPARC and driver updates including GPU and networking.
Torvalds notes that he delayed the Linux 3.13 final release as he was travelling and instead released the rc8.
“We had a few fixes come in, and while it wasn’t a lot, I think we’re better off for it. At least I hope so – I’ll be very disappointed if any of them cause more problems than they fix”, notes Torvalds in the release announcement.
Linux 3.13 release marks the opening of Linux 3.14 merge window as well. “…with this, the merge window for 3.14 is obviously open”, notes Torvalds.
