IsoHunt.com shuts early; Gary Fung says “I’ll be backkk”

Posted on 21 October 2013

IsoHunt.com has finally been taken down – over a week after Gary Fung, its owner, settled with MPAA outside of court.

Through a plain and simple message titled Initiating Self Destruct, Gary Fung notes “This is it. We are shutting down isoHunt services a little early.”

The site is slated for a complete closedown on October 22 according to Fung, but before it closes down Fung wants to “do a proper send-off” to all isoHunt users. Fung informs through the message that he is working on some project and asks users to stay connected to him.

“For what I’m working on next, please look up my blog on Google and follow me there.”

Fung has been locked in an ugly battle with MPAA and its members over copyright infringement claims and after over 6 years of battle, it seems that Fung have had enough. He settled outside of court and agreed to closure of IsoHunt.com as well as monetary penalties in tune of $115 million.

In an earlier message on his blog, a day after the settlement, Fung stated “It’s sad to see my baby go.” IsoHunt.com had been around for over 10.5 years and had been one of the topmost torrent indexing sites on the web with millions of visitors every month.

Ending the message on IsoHunt.com, Fung says “I’ll be backkk.”

Could someone explain to me how a site like isohunt.com could be considered technically legal? Just interested

do we have to go over this same explanation over and over again?

for the same reason your car is legal, but you can also use your car in a robbery at the local bank. isohunt.com doesnt steal data people do. cars are used for legal purposes and so is isohunt.com

you dont punish all people that use cars legally just because people use cars in bank robberies to get away with it.

If you’re too stupid to understand, and too lazy/stupid to use Google, well…..no one here will be able to help you. Please leave the internet, for the greater good.

Ooooh, how intimidating! A lazy moron spouts his attempt at a catchphrase at me rather than putting in some simple self improvement efforts! Google:if it’s too easy for you, leave the internet. Also, kill your mother.
