iOS 7.0.6 update results into battery drain claim users

Posted on 4 March 2014

Apple recently released iOS 7.0.6 update to fix an critical SSl/TLS flaw in its iDevices, but users have been complaining about issues like bricking of the device. Those who managed to successfully update their iPhones/iPads/iPod Touch are now complaining about serious battery drain and device warming.

Users are complaining that the battery of their iDevices are draining at an alarming rate – as much as 50 percent in matter of two hours – despite the fact that they have made only one call and checked a couple of emails.

Users have taken to Apple Support forums to highlight their issues. One user is claiming that the overall battery life has decreased by 2 hours after the iOS 7.0.6 update, while another user is claiming that the CPU usage on their device is averaging at 50 percent even though all apps have been closed.

There are those who have followed elaborated diagnostic steps like a user here, but claims that none of the steps have helped.

Some users have claimed that they have found the resolution to the battery drain issue. They claims that users need to follow a two-step process. The first involves closing all the apps that are open by going to the multi-tasking screen by double tapping on the Home button and swiping up on every app that is listed there.

Following this, forcibly reboot the iDevice by holding down the power button and the home button at the same time until the device restarts.

I already have the battery drain problem! It happened in the previous incremental update. So I think I’ll sit this one out.

Likewise, I will sit this update out. I had the battery drain problem after updating to iOS 7.0.3 and it took f.o.r.e.v.e.r to get Apple to replace the phone. What happened was the phone overheated during the update and fried something on the logic board. After that, the battery had about a three-hour life in standby. If this happens to you, there is no “reboot” solution — you just need a new phone.
