EPA (The Environmental Protection Agency) has released the list of the top 30 tech and telecom companies in the United States. Intel, Microsoft and Google, have topped the list, with Apple and Cisco completing the top 5 tally.
Intel Corporation, with an annual green power usage (kWh) of 3,100,850,000, ranks first, while Microsoft was placed second with 1,935,551,000 kWh. Google, with the help of top providers like NextEra Energy Resources, on-site Generation, Grand River Dam Authority, has finished on third position.
According to the report, Apple, with the green power consumption of 537,393,667 kWh, comes in at number four. Apple, compared to the other companies, has a diverse portfolio of resources and also the longest list of providers.
EPA’s report confirms that 100 percent of Intel’s power usage comes from green sources, while Microsoft is with 80 percent. Google, though in the third place, has a low 32 percent, while Apple has managed to pull out 85 percent of total power usage from green sources.
The other companies that made it to the top 30 include Cisco (5), Dell (6), Sony (9), Motorola (10), Samsung (14), Nokia (15), Lenovo (19).
EPA, based on usage figures of organisations meeting EPA Partnership requirements, updates the rankings on a quarterly schedule. Earlier in January, EPA published the list of National Top 100 companies with Intel Corporation ranking first and Microsoft at the second position, followed by Kohl’s at number three. Google made it to the top 10 ranking sixth, while Apple stood at number 11.
