Sony on Thursday announced that the Sucker Punch Productions’ power-filled adventure title inFamous: Second Son has successfully sold more than 1 million copies within the first nine days of its release.
The company confirmed that the one million figure includes sales of physical copies at retail as well as digital copies purchased on the PlayStation Store through March 29, 2014.
The game is probably the most significant release of 2014 so far for the PlayStation 4. It also topped the download charts on PSN in North America and Europe.
inFamous: Second Son, which was released on March 21, has now become the fastest-selling inFamous title in the series which includes Infamous, the original game from 2009, Infamous 2, its sequel from 2011, and Infamous: Festival of Blood, the 2011 downloadable spinoff.
“It was great to see such a warm reception to the title when it finally hit store shelves last month, and for all of us here at PlayStation and the team at Sucker Punch, it’s been really rewarding to share this launch with all of you,” Asad Qizilbash, marketing manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America, wrote in the blog post.
“A huge congratulations goes out to the team over at Sucker Punch for creating such a wonderful game, a true testament to their passion as developers and commitment to their fans, and a great big thanks to all of you who have picked up the game and have shown us how you enjoy your powers.”
inFamous: Second Son is set to arrive on PS4 in Japan in May. The title’s upcoming patch including free bonus missions for the game, “inFamous Paper Trail,” will bring with it some new features.
“There is still more Second Son to come,” read the blog post.
“If you’ve finished both playthroughs and are still looking for more ways to play, we encourage you to check out Infamous Paper Trail, the free bonus content that continues to expand on the Second Son universe.”
