Evan Blass, the popular tech tipster behind @evleaks, who announced his retirement earlier this week might make a comeback as TK Tech News has initiated an IndieGoGo campaign to collect funds for his medical expenses.
IndieGoGo campaign page says that it was started to help “one of the most influential tech journalists” and that the fund will help him with the medical expenses so that he can return to the community.
TK Tech News has invited the members of the tech community who have made use of his leaks about upcoming devices and specs to join the funding and help him return to his best health possible. The page further encourages readers to share the campaign with others.
Earlier this week, Blass stating the difficulty in monetizing his website and Twitter stream and his battle with multiple sclerosis as the reasons, announced his retirement in a tweet. It came as a surprise to his hundred and eighty thousand followers, who got to know what’s coming through his leaks well ahead of the official announcements from the manufacturers for almost two years.
He said that he started a website to even out the imbalance of the earnings from his Twitter stream however, it became difficult to monetize most of his followers who visited his website used ad blockers.
Last Sunday, Blass also posted a link to his first leak about the HTC Inspire 4G which was in January 2011. Notably, his leaks about the Nokia X family of devices and HTC Inspire 4G were prominent as they came months before the news became official.
@evleaks might be up and running again if the fund is able to support his medical care.
