Tesco on Friday launched the second iteration of its popular Hudl tablet dubbed ‘Hudl 2’ which the maker claims is ‘bigger, better and faster’ than its predecessor.
The new Hudl 2 has been equipped with vastly improved hardware and software features than Hudl 1. The new tablet comes packed with a 1.83GHz Intel Atom quad-core processor which Tesco claims makes it three times faster than the original.
Hudl 2 also features a full HD 1080p 8.3-inch screen, 2GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel front facer, Dolby-optimised rear-facing speakers, HDMI-out, dual-band Wi-Fi, 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 48GB via a microSD card and a battery that promises 8 hours of life on a full charge.
Most notably, the Hudl 2 comes with strong parental filters developed with The Parent Zone for up to seven users. Parents can set up each profile with their child’s age in order to block sensitive content or restrict the amount of time that a child plays on the device.
Announcing the launch, Michael Comish, Tesco’s chief digital officer, said the new tablet was a “step change in technology” and was “truly unique”.
“We believe hudl 2 will become the primary tablet for its users,” Comish noted.
The Tesco Hudl 2 has been affordably priced at just £129. Icing on the cake is that Tesco Clubcard customers will be able to grab it for as cheap as £65.
The new tablet will be available both in store and online starting from 9 October in eight color options including Jazzy Blue, Zesty Orange, Slate Black, Rocket Red, Tropical Turquoise, Dreamy White, Perky Purple and Bubblegum Pink.
Tesco revealed it has sold over 750,000 Hudl tablets in the UK since launch.
