HTC announces flagship HTC One M8 successor ‘HTC One M8s’

Smartphone maker HTC has launched a revamped version of its 2014 flagship HTC One M8 dubbed the HTC One M8s.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octo-core processor, the One M8s runs the Android Lollipop 5.0 OS, with its own HTC Sense 6.0 software sitting on top. The smartphone features a five-inch full HD touch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in internal storage expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card.

There’s a 13 megapixel rear and five megapixel front cameras on board, both of which come with HD video recording capabilities. The handset weighs 160 grams, is 9.55mm thick and has a battery capacity of 2,840mAh. Connectivity options on the handset include 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and NFC.

Other features include Motion Launch, which enables users to answer a call by lifting the smartphone to their ear, and HTC Switch, a service which enables users to easily and quickly transfer all content and information from another Android or phone or iPhone.

Announcing the launch, Peter Frølund, HTC’s UK and Ireland vice president, said “The HTC One M8s combines the quality ergonomics and design of the award-winning HTC One M8 with great sound and photo features to deliver an outstanding user experience at a premium level.

“What really sets the HTC One M8s apart is its design and build. We created the smartphone with comfort in mind. It’s not only a pleasure to look at, but feels great and fits perfectly into the hand.”

Available in glacial silver, amber gold and gunmetal gray color options, the M8S will see for £379.99 ($564) SIM-free in the UK. Exact regions and release dates are yet to be disclosed.
