Golden Joystick Awards 2015 winners revealed

The winners of the Golden Joystick Awards 2015 have been revealed and topping the chart is The Witcher 3 with five awards including Ultimate Game of the Year, Best Storytelling, Best visual design, Best Gaming Moment and Studio of the Year [for the studio behind the game].

Satoru Iwata, the man behind Nintendo’s success who died earlier this year in July at the age of 55, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Japanese company’s CEO was undeniably the driving force behind many of Nintendo’s products including the Wii and DS, and has been even credited for giving video games a status of family entertainment.

Grand Theft Auto was the next big winner. The title picked up four awards including Best Multi-Player for its online version, Best PC Game and the PlayFire Most Played Award. The title also won the Innovation of the year award.

Bloodborne has managed to walk away with two awards – Best original game and Best PlayStation game. Ori and the Blind Forest won the Blind Forest won Best Audio and Best Xbox Game. Kerbal Space Program for best indie game and Steam landed the best gaming platform again.

“This year’s Golden Joystick Awards are the most diverse yet, with AAA blockbusters and lo-fi indie games competing head-to-head, from Batman: Arkham Knight to Her Story; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to Life is Strange”, said Daniel Dawkins, Future’s Editor-in-chief of games. “We’re delighted that people voted in their millions to recognise the games, platforms and people they love, as this vibrant industry broadens and evolves.”

  • Bloodborne – Best Original Game, Best PlayStation Game
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Gaming Moment [Bloody Baron quest], Ultimate Game of the Year, and Studio of the Year [CD Projekt RED]
  • Ori and the Blind Forest – Best Audio, Best Xbox Game
  • GTA V – Best Multi-Player [Online version], Innovation of the Year [First person mode], Best PC Game, and Playfire Most Played.
  • Kerbal Space Program – Best Indie Game
  • Splatoon – Best Family Game, Best Nintendo Game
  • Fallout Shelter – Best Mobile Game
  • PewDiePie – Gaming Personality
  • Counter-Strike GO – eSports Icon [Anders Blume]
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Critics Choice
  • Fallout 4 – Most Wanted Game
  • Her Story – Breakthrough Award
  • Steam – Best Gaming Platform
  • Ashly Burch – Best Gaming Performance [as Chloe in Life is Strange]
  • Satoru Iwata – Lifetime Achievement

The awards were organised at the indigO2 centre and honours the best in international gaming.
