Yota Devices has launched its first-generation dual-screen e-ink display-equipped YotaPhone in the UK for £419.
Available on the company’s website directly, YotaPhone has been on sale in five other countries including Russia, Germany, France, Austria and Spain since December last year.
The first generation YotaPhone packs a 4.3-inch main display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1-megapixel front snapper, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The smartphone also packs a second e-ink display at the rear.
The £419 price tag won’t impress a whole lot of potential buyers, but those looking to buy a phone with second display don’t have a whole lot of options to choose from.
Yota Devices have confirmed that the handset will be made available in other regions including Nordic countries, the Middle East and countries including Portugal, Switzerland, and Italy over the course of next few weeks.
While the UK is just getting its first-generation YotaPhone, YotaPhone 2 has already been unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress. YotaPhone 2 will pack a fully touch-sensitive e-ink display on the rear allowing for easier control and extra functionality.
