FaceTime Audio, one of new features that came along with iOS 7, is missing on iPhones and iPads sold in China.
According to a report published by TechinAsia users who are using made-for-China iPhone 5s, 5c, and new iPad models have been complaining since the devices have first been made available in the country last year that they could only find the option to make FaceTime video calls with FaceTime audio feature missing.
There are those who tried to update their systems to latest version of iOS 7 and even tried using different SIM cards, but to no avail. There are those who even went to the extreme of changing their location to another country, but that didn’t work either.
The report also revealed that other than not being able to FaceTime Audio calls within the country, users are not able to receive FaceTime audio calls placed by their friends and family from other countries. Users are complaining that every time they try to receive such calls it was an audio failed error message that popped up.
Reports suggest that Apple may have disabled the FaceTime Audio feature in a bid to please three of the major Chinese carriers including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom so as to expand further in the lucrative Chinese market.
