EE has been crowned as UK’s best mobile operator ranking top in all mobile performance test categories, a new research report suggests.
According to network testing firm RootMetrics, EE topped in all five mobile performance categories, including call performance, reliability, mobile internet, texting and speed followed by rivals Three, O2 and Vodafone.
RootMetrics’ research, which is based on more than 920,000 tests of UK’s four mobile network services, was conducted in the first six months of the year in almost every county within the UK.

Performance of each mobile operator was tested and allotted points out of 100 in categories including overall performance, call performance, mobile internet, text, network reliability and network speed. While EE was ranked as the best network for England and Northern Ireland, Three topped the list for Scotland and Wales.
EE with an overall Rootmetrics score of 88.1 stood at the first spot followed by Three and O2 with scores 84.3 and 78.6 respectively. Vodafone came last in the list with an overall score of 77.8.
In terms of mobile internet performance, which RootMetrics dubbed as ‘a two-horse race’, EE and Three scored 85.5 and 82.7 respectively, ahead of O2 with 68.1 and Vodafone with 67.0 scores.

Although EE seemed to be at the forefront in terms of overall performance, the research firm said all four networks were showing signs of significant improvements.
“While EE continues to dominate with strong performance at all levels across the UK-especially when it comes to speed-the other networks are on the march,” the report published on rootmetrics.com reads.
The report further adds that while Three is making progress across the board, O2 and Vodafone are building up their momentum.
