After facing a 7-hour long outage, on Sunday, September 14, eBay has announced in an email that sellers affected by the outage will be refunded fee credits.
The e-commerce retailer has assured sellers that they will be “protected” against the outage.
In an email sent to customers on Monday, eBay confirmed that personal information of customers was not compromised by the incident.
Acknowledging the technical glitch the retailer said the company knows that its performance hasn’t met the customers’ expectations lately and also apologized for it. eBay added that it is taking steps to ensure the company meets the expectations going forward as it understands “how much it matters to your livelihood that eBay functions properly.”
eBay said it would refund “all fees for certain listings that ended between 11:15am BST and 8:45pm BST on Sunday 14 September.” The fee credits, however, will apply only to auction listings that ended, except those that sold for a Buy It Now price, as well as any fixed-price listings that ended without a sale, except 30-day and Good ‘Til Cancelled listings.
The e-commerce giant assured sellers that any transaction defects resulting from the glitch will be removed and will not impact their performance records. Refunded fee credits will appear on eBay sellers’ accounts by 23 September and will be reflected in their October invoice, the company noted.
