Apple iOS 7.1 update was released a couple of days back and alongside tweaks and improvement, Apple has also patched quite a few security bugs, killing the Evasi0n7 jailbreak in the process.
Soon after the iOS 7.1 update was signed off by Apple, users upgraded their iDevices to the latest iOS 7 version and some of them unwittingly broke the evasi0n7 jailbreak. The news were later confirmed as multiple users started reporting the same through multiple social media sites including Twitter, Facebook among others.
MuscleNerd advised jailbreakers to stay away from the update but the warning arrived a little late for some. “Jailbreakers stay away from today’s iOS 7.1! Once you go up you can’t downgrade again even with SHSH blobs (except i4)”, tweeted MuscleNerd.
Apple has disclosed a list of bugs that it has quashed with latest iOS 7.1 update and has credited four of those bugs to evad3rs. Out of the four, the first one is to do with a bug that allowed for a maliciously crafted backup file to alter the iOS file system.
The second is to do with crash-reporting, which when exploited allowed users to change permissions of arbitrary files on the device.
Third is to do with how malicious users can bypass code signing requirements and infact any unsigned code.
The fourth and probably the most important one, which will allow a local user to execute arbitrary code in the Kernel of the iDevice.
