The latest Google Android adoption report indicates a fair growth in Android 4.4 KitKat adoption as the Android version is now available on 13.6 percent of devices, up from 8.5% recorded last in May. This is for the very first time that the latest Android version has hit a double digit adoption figure.
On contrary, all other Android versions reported a share loss including Jelly Bean and Gingerbread. More specifically Jelly Bean, the leader, currently powers 58.4 percent of Google powered devices, down from 60.8 percent recorded last month.
Gingerbread too lost a big market share as its adoption rate slipped to around 14.9 percent from 16.2 percent, followed by Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) which currently accounts for 12.3 percent of Android devices.

[/media-credit]While, Froyo slipped 0.2 percent since its last update at 0.8 percent, Honeycomb remained stagnant at 0.1 percent.
The data is based on the number of Android devices accessing Google Play store during the seven-day period ending June 4.
Although it’s unlikely that KitKat could surpass Jelly Bean anytime soon, but it will interesting to note how things turn out next month, and that whether Android 4.4 KitKat continues to grow at the same rate.
It is expected that the search engine giant may announce a new strategy for pushing new versions to users faster during Google I/O.
