YouTube is prepping new features and tools alongside a special app for content creators to manage their channels and focus more on content creation.
The company announced on Friday that the new features will be rolled out in the coming months alongside an app specifically designed for content creators with features to manage channels and a way to receive payments from fans.
The app also lets content creators crowdsource captions and subtitles which could open more possibilities of getting subtitles in several languages in a short time. Sources also claimed that support for up to 60 languages is available.
YouTube’s blog post read, “Your biggest request? You want to hear about the new stuff we’re working on ahead of time, so you can tell us if we’re heading in the right direction.”
Matt Glotzbach, YouTube’s director of creator product management said in the video, “We want to show you the features and products we’re building ahead of time, so you can tell us if we’re on the right track or if we need to adjust a little.”
The blog post also featured a video that explained a bit more about the upcoming app and features. Glotzbach promised that the company will share such videos regularly in the future.
YouTube said that the app and features that it is building are a result of the feedback that it gets from users twice a year. The company also plans to get feedback about the features to make the app helpful when it launches.
The new app’s funding mechanism lets content creators receive subscriptions from fans directly, which can fund their projects without them having to depend on ad revenue.
Recently, YouTube added some features including comment management tools, an expansion of the Creator Academy where one can get content creation advice and a revenue sharing feature which lets channels to share revenue with musicians.
