During the Tokyo Game Show Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida teased a PlayStation 4 smartphone app, but refrained from detailing much information in a bid to keep the attention of the audience pinned to Vita TV. But today Yoshida has detailed the app and revealed a lot more information about what one should expect from the app once the PlayStation 4 hits shelves.
The PlayStation 4 app will be made available for both Android an iOS and users can do a whole bunch of things with it including sending and receiving text and voice messages either on the app or the PlayStation 4 gaming console; receive gaming invitations from friends on a PS4 to the app; buy a game and have their consoles download it automatically; watch recorded gameplay from a friend’s PS4; even watch live streamed gameplay; among other things.
Yoshida said that big banner gaming publishers are creating apps for their own games like Battlefield, but smaller developers can load an application by connecting to the PlayStation 4 using the app. They wouldn’t need to build a specific app for their game.
Yoshida said, “It’s open to all PS4 developers to use.”
