Adding to the list of previously leaked images, a few more screenshots of Windows 9 under development has appeared in a section of media.
It is however not clear whether these leaked screenshots are technical previews, but there is a clear indication to the effect that there are changes to the start menu, multiple desktops and a few other improvements. The Technical Preview version is expected to be released on September 30 this year.
Microsoft has not been very forthcoming on the new features it proposes to include in the Windows 9, but those familiar with the matter say there will be substantial changes to Cortana, Internet Explorer 12, Wi-Fi and Storage Sense.
Indications are that Windows 9 start menu will have a mix of classic layout of the Windows 7 along with live tile element of the 8 version. This, it is believed will make it easier for beginners to use the interface more intuitively.
The menu might also come with user controls for resizing, but not much is known about how it will be incorporated. Overall, users can expect more control in their hands on customisation for several of its features, especially live tiles.
Not many changes are expected to the Windows Store, but changes to the interface will be very much real, as evidenced in the screenshots leaked so far.
OneDrive in Windows 9 is expected to remain the same as in Windows 8 and so also the File Explorer, but for one change. Users can expect to see a Share button in Share tab that can be used with apps such as Twitter and Facebook.
While a press-only version is said to be planned for September 30, users may have to wait till April next year to finally have it on their computers.
