Yahoo on Tuesday announced acquisition of Wander, a New York based start-up behind visual diary-app Days, for an undisclosed amount.
Wander’s iPhone app Days, launched last year in March, lets users weave images captured at various moments into “visual diaries” of any given days in their lives. The app enables users to create a series of photographs and gifs that can be shared the next day, like a story.
Wander’s five members’ team will join Yahoo’s mobile and emerging products unit in New York City, the same division responsible for redesigning company’s Mail, Weather and Flickr apps.
Wander announced the acquisition in its blog post on Tuesday that read “We’ve accepted an offer to bring our work on daily habits to Yahoo.”
Wander also confirmed that its Days app will continue to work as a standalone entity unlike other Yahoo acquisitions. The Wander team would start working on some new projects as part of Yahoo’s mobile unit.
“The Days app will live on as a standalone entity, and we’ll also be working on some exciting new projects that we can’t talk about just yet,” the startup said in its blog post.
Although financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed, TechCrunch claimed that the deal is worth more than $10 million.
Yahoo’s acquisition spree is showing no signs of slowing down. The company has acquired more than 15 companies in the last 18 months under Marissa Mayer‘s leadership.
