A 24-year-old unnamed woman has finally managed to clear her driving tests and get rid of her L-plates after she cleared the test on her 24th attempt at a test centre in Chippenham last year.
According to data obtained under the Freedom of Information laws from Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), ten Brits had racked-up over 200 failed tests in between them. Out of the ten, six were women and four were male drivers.
The 24-year-old woman in question was the youngest and was the one with highest number of failed attempts. The oldest was a 47-year old male. All of them have cleared the test from different testing centres in the UK including London, Glasgow, Manchester and West Yorkshire.
The data shows that driving test is working as expected by failing those who are not yet ready to gain a driving license.
Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), said “It may be that repeated failures are down to not preparing well enough ahead of the test or it could be that they need more specific help on certain aspects of their driving” notes The Independent.
Clinton said that it would be advisable that those who are failing tests repeatedly should consider the reasons they are failing and should discuss those with their driving instructor. Clinton further said that those taking the test take a break instead of appearing immediately for another test and this might help them.
