Microsoft will publicly launch its Windows 8.1 Update 1 at Build 2014 Developer Conference this April and it is rumoured that the company will also give a sneak peak at its upcoming Windows 9 codenamed ‘Threshold’, which is slated for a 2015 release.
However, latest reports indicate that Windows 9 will reach RTM status this year itself with October 21, 2014 as the deadline. Twitter user @WZorNET has challenged Paul Thurrott’s recent report which pegs a April 2015 release and stated that the RTM will actually be signed off on October 21.
“http://m.winsupersite.com/windows-8/threshold-be-called-windows-9-ship-april-2015 … hey men ~ Win 9 released in April 2015? No! No! No! ..WIN RTM-0 RELEASED SIGN-OFF DEALINE IN 21 OCTOBER 2014 :)” tweeted @WZorNET.
The authenticity of the content of the tweet cannot be confirmed and we would like to recommend our readers to take it with a grain of salt; however, it this does happen, it would be more or less an official acceptance from Microsoft that Windows 8.X has failed and that a clean slate is required.
