Virgin Media has released an Android app for its TV Anywhere on-demand and live streaming television service for all its customers starting Thursday.
The TV Anywhere app will work with most Android tablets and smartphones and will be made available for free for all existing customers. Using the app users can remotely manage their Tivo set-top boxes, including scheduling and deleting recordings in real time while also having access to a whopping 67 channels over Wi-Fi.
Virgin, along with the Android app, has also added another nine channels to the programming lineup available via TV Anywhere, claiming its service has “more channels in total than Sky Go”.
“Virgin TV Anywhere offers more live channels than Sky Go, with 90 available online and 67 to watch on mobile and tablets. 39 of these channels are not available on Sky Go, including BT Sport, ITV, Channel 5, CBS Reality Premier Sport and many more,” read a Virgin Media statement.
Alibi, Dave, Drama, Good Food, Home, Really, Watch, Yesterday and CBS Reality are the nine channels which will be included in the TV Anywhere service.
Virgin’s new Android app also allows customers to rate their favorite shows with Tivo’s trademark Thumbs Up/Down.
The app will be compatible with a wide range of Android smartphones and tablets, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, Sony Xperia Tablet Z, Google Nexus tablets and the Samsung Galaxy Note, with more upcoming Android devices and can be downloaded via Google Play store.
