Unspecified number of Three customers were affected by a data outage which started early in the morning and lasted for about 7 hours only to be resolved just after midday.
Three confirmed the 3G data outage through a tweet after users started reporting of data outage as early 6 in the morning. “Some customers are having internet issues. We’re sorry for any inconvenience. We’re working on fixing this quickly. We will update you here”, confirmed Three through a tweet.
The actual reasons behind the outage aren’t known and Three is yet to disclose the details about the cause of the 3G outage. Customers from all over the UK including those in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Reading and Sheffield have reported of data outages. Some have even reported instances of inability to make phone calls as well.
Three hours after the initial tweet, Three assured that it was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. By this time some users reported that their data connectivity was restored, but their connections were much slower than usual.
At the time of this writing our sources reveal that 3G data connectivity has been restored and that too with the usual data connection speeds. Three has also confirmed the same through its latest tweet “Some customers experienced internet issues this morning. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and it has now been resolved”, but hasn’t provided a reason as to why the outage occurred.
The problems come at a time when Three is busy rolling out its 4G services across the UK. The company initiated its 4G rollout starting with London, Manchester, Birmingham and Reading from second week of December last year. The company is planning to expand its 4G services in a total of 50 cities by end of 2014.
