Everything Everywhere has announced UK’s lowest priced 4G smartphone dubbed Rook making it available for just £39 for existing EE customers and £49 for new EE customers.
Available from EE stores, EE telesales and via the EE online store, the Rook isn’t the best smartphones when it comes to configuration. Having said that a starting price of £39 isn’t going to leave a huge dent in your pocket either.
Powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Rook has a 64 bit MediaTek 1GHz Quad-Core processor under its hood with 1 GB RAM assisting the processor for its multitasking needs. The 4-inch high-res FWVGA display may not be the best in class, but it does the job of providing you good enough visuals for your browsing needs.
The 5-megapixel rear camera and 8GB internal memory are appropriate for a low priced phone like the Rook. Some of the other specifications include 1,500mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, MicroUSB and storage expansion slot where you can fit in 32GB memory card for your music, photos and videos.
Sharon Meadows, Director of Devices at EE, said: “At EE, we believe everyone should have access to 4G and the experiences it offers on the go. The Rook provides a great 4G smartphone at a compelling price – allowing even more people to enjoy the benefits of our superfast mobile network from high speed web browsing and downloads to gaming and streaming.“
EE is making it available to pay as you go as well as corporate customers and customers who purchase a Rook handset can also benefit from up to a 20 per cent discount on select EE accessories.
Good deal for a cheap smartphone, still waiting for one that beats the ZTE Blade though with its oled screen, that was a bloody good phone and mine is still going strong!
Love the grammatical error… IN ITS CLASS not IN IT’S CLASS
