LG Mobile today has confirmed the UK and Ireland launch of its 8.3-inch G Pad tablet before Christmas, just in time for the holiday shopping spree. G Pad is the latest addition to company’s G Series range of premium devices and will mark LG’s reentry in the tablet market.
The G Pad 8.3 which LG claims to be as “world’s first 8in tablet with a Full HD 1,920 x 1,200 resolution display” was first showcased at the IFA held in Berlin in September this year. LG’s G pad will face tough competition from Apple’s iPad Mini and Google’s Nexus 7.
LG has entered into an exclusive deal with Micro P, IT distributor, to launch its G Pad 8.3 in the UK market with a price tag of £259.99.
Head of Mobile for LG UK, Andy Coughlin, said that “The introduction of the LG G Pad 8.3 is another great step in design and technology from LG and shows that the G Series is going from strength to strength,” and “Just like the LG G2, the G Pad 8.3 delivers cutting-edge technology in a slim and sleek form, and is just the product for our re-entry into the UK tablet market”.
LG’s new G Pad 8.3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz complemented by 2GB RAM. The tablet features up to 16GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front one. The new G Pad 8.3 has been equipped with a 1,920 x 1,200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) full HD display and will run on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
