Twitter is reportedly testing a tweet embedding function that lets users embed other tweets in their tweets.
The feature is available for a select few users as of now to make sure it works fine before it is rolled out generally. It was pushed as an update to the apps on the iOS and Android platforms for some users, while web based users are not included in the beta testing, according to the sources.
This function could come in handy when users want to quote somebody’s tweet and instead of including it just as a link, the actual tweet itself will be embedded in a graphical format, tapping on which will let viewers read the embedded tweet as a normal tweet.
Twitter’s new functionality will let users post tweets without having to compose a comment for a retweet or taking pains to shorten urls to include in their tweets to reduce character count in order to include a message in their tweet.
It is assumed that tapping on a tweet will display options to embed it into a tweet while displaying it in a graphical format below the composing area.
Twitter is yet to officially announce the new functionality, said to be in the testing phase. There is no information regarding when the functionality will be rolled out to other platforms and web users.
