Twitter, on Tuesday, announced the launch of a new media tool dubbed ‘Curator’ which will let media organizations, publishers, and broadcasters to search, filter and embed real-time tweets and Vine videos into a variety of formats including websites, mobile apps and even television.
Twitter claims that the tool, which has been put under trial for quite some time now, has garnered strong increase in audience engagement, participation and attention for those who have been testing it including the NYC Mayor’s office and Italy’s major network, Mediaset.
Now, the microblogging giant has rolled out the tool to all media publishers across the world including news organizations, production companies, broadcasters, local governments and even concert venues, for free.
Using Curator, media outlets will be able to collect tweets and Vines based around specific topics, perform more advanced searches and get access to better analytics. The media tool enables publishers to create complex keyword and hashtag queries to easily uncover streams of high quality Tweets.
Queries can be further filtered by keywords, authors, location, language, time zone, follower count, verified users, number of likes or retweets, and more.
Publishers can even collaborate with Twitter Certified Partners like Flowics, Livefyre, ScribbleLive, Spredfast and Wayin for more advanced integrations, customizations and hands-on support.
Twitter confirmed it has currently no plans to include premium features or integrate advertising. It is likely that Curator will result in an increase in Twitter own user base by reaching out to those who don’t necessarily use the microblogging service.
