Just a month after its launch, Amazon Fire TV will feature the video game streaming app Twitch on its platform, starting Wednesday.
“Amazon Fire TV just got game!” touted Twitch in its blog post announcing the release. “You can now get the Twitch app on Amazon Fire TV and turn your big screen TV into your personal gaming theater.”
The Twitch app for Fire TV is a bit different from its other versions as it lacks the option that lets users to broadcast their own gaming sessions. Users will be able to watch other users’ channels and also view their favorite channels except stream their own games live.
Amazon Fire TV, with its own game controller, is pitched more as a gaming platform than TV and the head-turning arrival of Twitch without its prominent feature might raise quite a lot of eyebrows.
A Reddit user has claimed that the Twitch icon was spotted when Amazon Fire TV was first announced hence it may not be a surprise to many.
Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto trilogy for the Amazon Fire TV platform and Kindle Fire. The trilogy includes the titles: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ($7), available for immediate download.
Amazon is also offering 2,000 Amazon Coins (worth $20) for every purchase of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Other games that are newly made available for download include Walking Dead: Season 2, Magika, and Zombie Tycoon.
