Leading Mobile Operator Company, Three, has announced it is putting an end to its unlimited 3G and 4G tethering offerings for all the new customers.
The mobile operator has announced that all new customers will now be allowed to tether only up to 2GB a month, rather than the unlimited tethering previously offered to existing customers by the company.
Under the new plan, customers with 500MB, 1GB or 2GB data plans will be allowed 100 per cent data tethering, but all-you-can-eat customers will be allowed a maximum of 2GB tethering limit only. Additional tethered data allowance will be available at an additional cost.
“A small percentage of customers were taking advantage of the tethering benefits, using up to 2 terabytes of data a month, making it unfair for the other 99 per cent,” said a Three spokesperson.
Three will also be making the One Plan a SIM-only offering. The company’s One Plan will not be available to new customers. Three said that the One Plan “will no longer be available for contract handset sales.”
Although existing One Plan customers will be able to continue using it, they will be required to swap to the new contract in case they upgrade their smartphones once their contract expires.
The network has also announced that calls made to 0800 will not be chargeable on its pay monthly plans. Also the cost of of dialing 084 and 087 numbers has been reduced to just 5p per minute.
