The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) has managed to hack it way through Time’s Twitter account and posted tweets hailing the Syrian President.
The Twitter account was reportedly hacked on Friday and a tweet supporting Syrian President was posted on its timeline which read, “’Syrian Electronic Army’ was here via @Official_SEA16.. Next time write a better word about the Syrian president #SEA.” The tweet was deleting within 10 minutes of being posted reports Techworm.
This wasn’t the only tweet that SEA posted. In a subsequent tweet the SEA wrote that they stopped the person of the year pol until Time changes description of Syrian President Al-Assad.
“We closed @TIME vote temporarily while they edit the Syrian president description on the website #SEA pic.twitter.com/qQfCcbR6K2” read the tweet.
There is no information on how the Syrian Electronic Army managed to hack the account, but it seems that the control of the Twitter could have been gained through a phishing attempt on a the admin of the account through an email which was registered with the microblogging site.
