Recent reports suggest Sony’s next flagship smartphone dubbed ‘the Xperia Z4’ could see a 2015 release.
The electronics giant has recently confirmed that they will be taking part at CES 2015, which is scheduled to take place early next year, and that the company will be holding a press conference on January 5 2015, presumably to make new upcoming product announcements.
According to a report on AndroidOrigin, which cites an unnamed insider source, the Sony Xperia Z4 will boast Qi-wireless charging support instead of the magnetic charging port found on previous Xperia flagships. As per the report, the upcoming handset won’t have flaps covering microSD card slot, micro-USB ports and SIM card, while it will continue to offer IP68 water and dust resistance.
Another report from Chinese website CNBeta suggested that Sony’s upcoming flagship handset will include the world’s first high-speed and high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor with active colour sampling. The new sensor will apparently allow users to shoot 2K video at 16,000 frames per second and 4K video at 240 frames per second, much faster than the Z3.
Previous rumours indicates that the upcoming Xperia Z4 is likely to feature a 5.5-inch QHD 1440 x 2560 display, a 64-bit 2.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 graphics chip.
In addition to the flagship smartphone Xperia Z4, Sony is also expected to unveil other Z4 range of devices including Z4 Ultra, Z4 tablet and Z4 Compact smartphone next year.
