Sony has sold over 16 million units of PlayStation 4 consoles globally as of week ending November 29 opening up the gates for a possible 20 million units milestone by end of 2014.
According to sales numbers on VGChartz, the Black Friday week turned out to be a great affair for Sony as well as it managed to sell over 1.1 million PlayStation 4 units in that week alone. This took its tally to 16,146,005 units to be precise notes the site.
The Black Friday week also saw PS4 reach a new milestone in terms of retail sales of games. The report notes that over 60 million PlayStation 4 games have been sold through retail.
If we compare the sales numbers of PlayStation 4 with those of Xbox One for the week ending November 29, Xbox One is lagging by nearly 7 million units as Microsoft had managed to ship only 9,133,686 units of Xbox One as compared to 16,146,005 units of PlayStation 4.
The last few weeks of 2014 will be important for both the companies considering that Microsoft would want to get closer to PS4 sales numbers and Sony would be aiming for the 20 million units milestone.
