Update
Pete Hines, Bethesda PR and marketing vice president, has clarified that the company has no plans of releasing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. He took to Twitter to clarify company’s stand stating that the there was a bug in the CMS that caused the listing of unsupported platforms.
“We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites. A bug caused platforms that don’t exist to show up for some games Sorry for confusion”, tweeted Hines.
Original Story
In what seems to be a probable mistake, Besthesda momentarily listed its The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside the previous generation consoles PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
OnlySP managed to grab a screenshot of the Skyrim listing just for posterity. The listing had links associated with PS3, Xbox 360 and PC; however, there were no links for the Xbox One and PS4 indicating that the game might just be on its way for those two consoles.
This apparent goof-up in Skyrim listing is accompanied by reports from Europe on reddit of an email being sent by Besthesda teasing a January 12 event where it wants to make a “very special announcement”.
We wouldn’t be surprised if the game does get a Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release considering Square Enix’s decision of releasing a technically superior version of Tomb Raider for the new consoles.
More like a mistake that they’re not considering remaking skyrim for next gen. sigh* looks like I’m going to have to wait for another elder scrolls…and no. I’m not wanting ESO. There’s no way I’m paying for another subscription on top of my playstation plus
I’d rather see a PS4 version of Fallout 3
