Cloud apps are seemingly under a ‘downtime’ trend with Microsoft SkyDrive joining the list of glitchy apps starting Tuesday afternoon.
According to a status update on Live Status site, “SkyDrive is having problems accessing and modifying files. You might not be able to view, change, upload, or delete files.” The notice has been up since 13:00 PDT without any explanation behind the cause of the glitch.
Just a day before Google reported issues with Gmail service – one the longest in its history – almost ten hours. Google was busy most of the Monday morning and afternoon to fix the issues – seemingly persistent network-related bug – which took down the service for over 200 million users. Users of free as well as paid Gmail services including business, schools and government organizations were affected by the downtime.
Microsoft has been pitching SkyDrive as one of its main products that plays a critical role as a storage service in Many of the newly released products including Windows8, Windows 8.1, Surface tablets, Windows Phone as well as desktop productivity suites like Microsoft Office. Just a couple of days back, Redmond announced a new 200GB SkyDrive plan that will be available at no extra cost to users buying the Surface 2 tablets. Users can even purchase the plan if they are not planning to buy the Surface 2 tablet.
