People who pre-ordered their PlayStation 4s through UK-based online retailer SimplyGames at a price of £349.99 are now being asked to update their orders with a new bundle on offer by paying an extra £65.
People will now have to pay between £415 and £470 to stay in the launch day pre-order queue. SimplyGames has been sending emails to its pre-order customers explaining them about the new PlayStation 4 bundles since October 3 stating that they must upgrade their orders to get their allocated gaming console. The email began with the words “Thanks for bearing with us with whilst we finalized stock configurations with Sony”.
Customers will now have to choose a new console bundle which is available at a minimum price of £414.99 and at a maximum price of £469.99. SimplyGames is offering customers a dual charging cable which is a simple USB-to-two-mini-USBs lead costing £14.85 with the gaming console and not the official cable from Sony that costs £24.85. This is surprising as Sony is allowing one of its retailers to sell unofficial cable as a bundled product with PlayStation 4.
Sony being one of the accused in the entire matter responded saying that “Sony is not and would not force anyone to buy something they don’t want,” and “We value our consumers and offered the bundles precisely to give them choice and value.”
Sony explained in an emailed statement to Euro Gamer that it continues to work closely with all its retail partners in a bid to offer choices to its customers “in the climate of amazing excitement and unprecedented demand for PlayStation 4”.
That’s really bad, glad I preordered with ShopTo!
